About recovery

Recovery leads the site back after a snapshot restore or a server outage.

After a snapshot restore

People, keys, requests, imports and configuration changes made after the snapshot are not in Janus. Every session and recovery code was invalidated; API keys and integration clients are quarantined; inbound requests and deliveries start paused. Janus stays in recovery mode until the access review is done, every integration is resumed and every outage-sheet row is closed.

After a server outage

Nothing was booked while the server was down. The reconnect comparison shows what the sensors saw; the outage sheet says what people did.

What the access review does

People keep their restored role grants, so the floor can sign in. The changes made after the snapshot come back from the off-host audit copy, applied again by a named administrator.

Recovery code

About the recovery code

For when every administrator is locked out. Entering it gives a time-limited Administrator grant, a standing alert and a mandatory review. Vendor staff never hold it.

With administrator access and the code both lost, a local OS administrator with physical access to the host recovers through the Janus Service CLI, fully audited, which issues a new code.
