About Policies

Policies are the rules every rack and station decides by. Each change is a new version: it shows its impact on open work first, and going back is one more version through the same review.

Presets

Strict or Relaxed sets every preset value at once, in one version. A value set for the site, a rack, an item or a station overrides the preset where it applies: the first matching rule wins, from the most specific scope to the site.

What never relaxes

Approvals are off until switched on per action and scope. Fixed safeguards never relax. Publishing needs the policy grant; switching the preset needs it site-wide.

What each tower shows

Concept proposal to Neo · departs from DP15

Each tower shows the first rule that matches it, checked from the top. A rack’s two towers are checked separately, so one can show a put-in while the other shows a missing reel. Neo’s DP15 sets one colour and mode per signal; this ordered list with quiet hours is the concept’s proposal (Neo J05-Q7 is open), kept in R1 by the owner. Its timers are policy values: see Timers.

3 things to check before you apply

  • Rule 4 never shows on SR-03: its towers have no blue lamp.
  • Rule 8 never shows: rule 5 comes first for task in progress at this rack on the same towers.
  • Everywhere but SR-03: Help called at this rack (rule 4) and take-outs (rule 5) both show blue blink. A fault, a help call or a move must look unlike anything else.

    Being set up or in handover. Its towers must not call the floor.

    Some bays have no fresh sensor reading, so they are Unknown.

Towers have red, yellow, green, blue and white lamps; SR-03’s towers have red, yellow and green only. Blink is 500 ms on, 500 ms off, like a bay; slow blink is 1 s on, 1 s off. Drag a rule by its handle, or use the arrows.

    Switching needs the policy grant and grant management over every affected scope, in this one command. A policy grant on a rack subtree publishes there, never a site-wide preset.
