About label formats

How supplier labels are read: one reader, one applicable format, for every scan at every station.

Exactly one enabled format may read a label. The order of the list is where a format is listed, not which one wins.

One format per label

Every enabled format is checked on every scan, and exactly one may read a label. Two that both read it overlap, even when they read it the same way: the list’s order never decides. Narrow one, or retire it.

Shape v2 reads

Exactly 8 fields separated by “;”; field 1 is 8 digits; field 3 is 6 digits; field 6 is digits; field 7 is “F” + 6 digits.

Reel ID from fields 1 and 7 only, as Renesas prints it on the new reels.

Fields and shapes

Save after changing the kind or the number of fields to refresh the rows. A shape is literal text, digit runs (\d, \d{8}, \d+) and letter runs ([A-Z]). A field with no role is read but not kept.

What a registry change does

Every change runs the check on the registry it publishes. Moving a format changes only where it is listed. Stored reels keep their recorded identity. Retiring a format that stored reels were read with is refused, except under the Relaxed preset with a named reason.

Publishing changes how every station reads labels, so it asks who you are again.

It replaces v2 for every new scan. Stored reels keep their recorded identity.

Publishing changes how every station reads labels, so it asks who you are again.

Then: Janus runs the check again on the registry as it is, stores version 3 and registry revision 42, and every station reads with it from its next scan. If anything changed meanwhile, nothing is stored.

It is published again as v3, after the same check against the labels it read before. v2 is kept.
